Ovals Enter New Era With NASCAR
By Jason Cunningham, NASCAR
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Spring is the season for things to begin anew. This past weekend, two longstanding short tracks experienced their own renewal.
Massachusetts oval Seekonk Speedway returned to the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series weekly program for 2015 after a decade as an independent. The popular .333-mile oval bordering Providence, Rhode Island, first opened for auto racing in May 1946 and is celebrating its 70th season of competition this year.
