PUEBLA, Mexico — Irwin Vences collected his third win of the season and strengthened his hold on the top spot in the NASCAR Mexico Series standings Sunday at Autódromo Miguel E. Abed.


The victory in the Amozoc 240 was Vences’ second straight; he picked up the win July 12 at San Luis Potosi. He also the May 31 race at Puebla.


Vences’ No. 46 Axtel/Avaya/M Racing Ford out-distanced his teammate Homero Richards by 1.874 seconds on the 2.01 km (1.25 mile) oval. Richards had won the pole position earlier in the day.

RIVERHEAD, N.Y. – It’s a Riverhead Raceway sweep for Tom Rogers Jr. in 2015.


Rogers, of nearby Patchogue, New York, laid down a fast lap of 11.971 seconds (75.182 mph) for his second-consecutive NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Coors Light Pole Award at Riverhead.


The veteran – who is the track’s current NASCAR Whelen All-American Series modified division points leader – also earned the pole in the tour’s first visit this year to the Long Island quarter-mile in June. He finished seventh in that race.

BOWMANVILLE, Ontario — Andrew Ranger broke his own track record as he collected his second pole of the season Saturday in qualifying for Sunday’s Pinty’s presents the Clarington 2000 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.


It is Ranger’s 17th career pole in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1. Ranger’s No. 27 Mopar/Pennzoil Dodge posted a lap of 82.807 seconds (106.904 mph) around the 2.459-mile, 10-turn road course.


He will start on the front rown alongside rookie Kevin Lacroix.

The 2012 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series track titlists at Riverhead, Solomito laid down a fast lap of 12.096 seconds (74.405 mph) to lead the 31-car field in NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour practice Saturday.


Doug Coby finished second on the speed chart after he toured the Long Island quarter-mile in 12.097 (74.399). June Riverhead victor Justin Bonsignore was third-fastest at 12.105 (74.306).

ALTON, Va. – Scott Heckert once again showed he will be the driver to beat today at VIRginia International Raceway after he won his second consecutive Coors Light Pole at the picturesque facility during qualifying for the Biscuitville 125.


Heckert drove his No. 34 Project Lifesaver Chevrolet to a fast lap time of 1:27.324 seconds (92.758 mph) that shattered his own track record to win his fifth career pole and second straight at the 2.25-mile North Course at VIR.

Drake piloted his No. 15 NAPA Toyota around the 2.25-mile North Course at 88.043 seconds (92.000 mph) to lead the 18-car field after two 45-minute practice sessions.


J.J. Haley finished a close second in his No. 5 Braun Auto Chevrolet (88.198/91.839) with Kaz Grala, Austin Hill and defending race winner Scott Heckert fifth.

The Ridgefield, Connecticut, native has won the last three road course events on the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East schedule. His most recent victory came at New York’s Watkins Glen International in the Bully Hill Vineyards 125. The 23-year-old led 22 laps to earn his third road course victory and his fourth career win overall in the series.

DACONA, Colo. — Ryan Patridge turned a dominant perfomance Saturday night at Colorado National Speedway into his first career NASCAR K&N Pro Series West victory.


The 25-year-old rookie from Rancho Cucamonga, California, won his first Coors Light Pole Award and then went out led all but one lap in the NAPA Auto Parts 150.


Partridge’s No. 9 Sunrise Ford/Eirbach Springs/Lucas Oil Ford crossed the finish line 1.7 seconds in front of runner-up Blake Williams. The 20-year-old Williams was making his third career start and posted his second top five.
