DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A third-generation driver, 15-year-old Grant Brown has achieved a family first: A NASCAR national championship.


The Prior Lake, Minnesota, teen became the first in his family to win a title when he was crowned the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Division IV champion while racing at Elko Speedway in Minnesota.

In the closest race for a state championship in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series during the 2015 season, Lanpher entered the finale at the Scarborough, Maine, oval with a 10-point lead on Garrett Hall. The challenger wrecked his car in practice, but in an act of exceptional sportsmanship, Lanpher offered his backup car to Hall to be able to compete in that night’s feature.

Search motivational sayings on Google and the results are seemingly endless. Bill Kimball Jr. didn’t need a phrase though, he was driven by memory.


Kimball captured his first NASCAR Whelen All-American Series championships in 2013 when he won the track title at Monadnock Speedway and the accompanying New Hampshire state crown. It was his experience at the NASCAR awards ceremony that followed which provided the inspiration to return to the annual postseason event in North Carolina once again.

The 17-year-old from Charlotte, North Carolina, set the fastest practice time at the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West practice at Phoenix International Raceway.


Byron piloted his No. 91 Liberty University Chevrolet for a fast time of 26.915 seconds (133.754 mph) during the only practice session to pace the field in practice for Thursday night’s finale.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Mike Holden’s first championship season at Evergreen Speedway was a dream come true for the second-generation driver who grew up watching his father makes laps on the Washington oval.


His second championship season was just as special.


“It’s very hard to do,” said the Snohomish, Washington, driver. “I was shocked at the first one and even more shocked to do it again.”


Holden’s father was a track champion at Evergreen, and he started his own racing career in 2007.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Four drivers are in the hunt to leave Arizona’s Phoenix International Raceway Thursday night crowned as the 2015 NASCAR K&N Pro Series West champion.


Chris Eggleston, Noah Gragson, Gracin Raz and Ryan Partridge head into the Casino Arizona 100 within 12 points of each other. Championship points leader Eggleston and second-place Gragson are separated by only two points. All would be first-time champions.


The race will air live on MRN at 5:30 p.m. PT.

MEXICO CITY — While all the attention was on the six NASCAR Mexico Series drivers vying for the championship, Pepe Gonzalez emerged from the green-white-checkered finish to Sunday’s Alcatel One Touch 240 with his first career win.


The 46-year-old from Guadalajara was making his 12th start of the season and his 18th of his career. He is the sixth different driver to win at Mexico City’s Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.

MEXICO CITY — Rubén García Jr. nearly saw his championship dreams come to a crashing halt.


In the end, however, the 19-year-old NASCAR Next driver wound up in Victory Lane and maintained his position atop the NASCAR Mexico Series. His victory in Saturday’s Red Cola 240 at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez was his third of the year and second of the five-race Desafio.


García’s No. 88 Canels/Scotiabank/HDI Toyota led just four laps all day but was able to get past teammate Rafael Martinez with three laps to go to secure the victory.

“Why?” one might ask. There are many reasons. 


First, Hale and his 19-year old son Cody, paired up to compete for the full season for the first time in nearly a decade and finished in the top-10 a perfect 18-for-18 at Lonesome Pine Raceway in Coeburn, Virginia.
