Wins First New Smyrna Track Championship
By Brooke Franceschini, NASCAR
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Anthony Sergi made his childhood dreams come true when he was crowned the New Smyrna (Fla.) Speedway champion.
The 21-year-old has been competing at the .480-mile Florida oval since the age of 10 when he was racing Quarter Midgets before moving up to trucks at the age of 13.
“It’s my home track,” the Orlando, Florida, native said. “I dreamt of winning the title since I was a kid starting out there. It’s always good to win at New Smyrna, but it’s even better to win the championship.”
